Villa Uuvana

Here we have collected activities, restaurants etc that the owners have tested or are otherwise known to be of good value. The list is not in any particular order. We have no financial connection with any of these service providers. We provide them only for the convenience of our guests.

Hotels in the Saariselkä Village have also good restaurants and different kind of activities. Those are not listed here.

Restaurants

• Star Arctic hotel restaurant Kaunis is near the top of the Kaunispää fell, only 450 m walk from Uuvana. This restaurant is often full during the high season, table reservation is recommended.
• Kaunispään Huippu is located right on top of the Kaunispää fell, 700 m walk from Uuvana. Kaunispään Huippu is more like a ski resort restaurant. Great place for lunch.
• Pizzeria Fieno is Great Italian-Lappish restaurant located down in the Saariselkä Village. Walking distance is about 2 km. Here you can find great pizza and some other Italian specialties with a Lappish twist.
• Laanilan Kievari is more like old Lappish guesthouse “Kievari”. You are served traditional Lappish dishes and game – moose, reindeer, local fish, willow grouse, king crab… Laanilan Kievari has excellent choise of quality wines! Laanilan Kievari is a bit further away, about 4,5 km.
• Restaurant Petronella is a fine dining restaurant. You may find interesting reading the Story of Petronella.
• Muossi Grilli serves Lappish grill food, burgers etc. in the Saariselkä Village.
• Saariselän Panimo is a local pub. Beer, liquor, karaoke, live music, sport channels. During summertime you can even see old style gold panners here!
• Gastropub Giitu is a local pub. Beer, liquor, bar food…
• Kaunis Jorma (on FB) is a local pub. Beer, liquor, bar food, karaoke…

Activities

• Ilonka Lapland is a farm and cafe near airport so transport is needed. Ilonka is a family owned small activity park with huskies and Husky Sledding for children is available.
• Lapin Luontolomat is a family company offering winter and summer activities. Kota dinner, snowmobile safari, ice fishing, reindeers, arctic ocean snowmobile safari, aurora hunting, river rafting, boat trip to lake Inarijärvi, canoe trips…
• Lapponia Tours offers many kinds of activities and equipment rental.
• Outdoor Expert Saariselkä is a place to rent your equipment. Skiis, bikes etc.
• Saariselkä Ski & Sport Resort is the northernmost ski center in Europe. Equipment rental, restaurant, guided tours, caravan park…
• Arctic Snow Sprint (on FB) snow mobiles for kids from around 4-6 years… (see map)
• FrozenRing Ice Karting is the northernmost, coldest and definitely the best Ice Karting Track in the world.
• Gáldu Forest Sauna & Spa is located in Laanila and has three saunas and three different pools.

Catering

At least following companies can provide catering to Uuvana:

• Pirkon Pirtti : breakfast, lunch, dinner
• Laanilan Kievari : breakfast and maybe lunch – no dinner, they are busy with the restaurant

• Arctic Agency : catering and also many kinds of activities

Transport, how to get there

If you arrive by car, address is Uuvana 1, 99830 Saariselkä (see map).

If you arrive by air to Ivalo airport, you have basically two choises of transport unless you hire a car:

• By Bus, Eskelinen Lapin linjat has a bus service to Saariselkä-Kiilopää after every arriving flight. Nearest bus stop in Saariselkä is Suopunkitie, junction “Kosatus” (see map). From there is a 900 m walk to Uuvana.
• By Taxi. If you are arriving in high season, availability of taxis is limited, many of them are pre-booked. If you want to be sure to get a taxi, it is advisable to pre-book. Below are some taxis you can try.
